Places of interest in Estartit and the Costa Brava

Stretching from the French border down the east coast of Spain to Barcelona, there are few places that compare with the Costa Brava for superb beaches, picturesque coves, fabulous restaurants and fantastic scenery surrounding medieval villages. There are many places of interest in Estartit and the Costa Brava which makes it such a great location to spend your holiday.

Pals: A medieval hamlet situated on a hill only 15 minutes' drive away from Estartit.

Peretallada: Not far away from Pals is the pretty village of Peretallada full of wonderful traditional Catalan restaurants and interesting both architecturally and artistically.

Begur: The cape on which Begur is situated consists of an immense geological mass of vertical cliffs which drop down into the sea, the only access being four little coves: Fornells, Aigua Blava, Sa Tuna and Aigua Freda.

Calella Palafrugell: Spectacular scenery with whitewashed houses makes the village marvellously attractive and colourful.

Llafranc: Don't miss Llafranc either, where you can take a 30 minute cliff walk to & from Calella.

La Bisbal: A busy town, this is -the- place to go shopping for locally produced ceramics and handicrafts.

Figueres: Home of the Salvador Dali Art Museum.

Barcelona: Barcelona requires little introduction. We recommend booking an excursion to take in all the sights for first time visitors.

L'Escala: Just to the north of Estartit is L'Escala, a delightful fishing village. Be sure to find the little inlets at the end of the promenade where you will find wonderful seafood restaurants, bars and cafes. Cala Montgo is a delightful beach situated in a large cove, close to L'Escala.

Further inland you have the spectacular backdrop of the Pyrenees. Towards these majestic mountains, you can visit such beautiful places like:

Girona: The nearest city to L'Estartit. The town is a maze of winding old streets built along the river with stunning architecture and an abundance of shops, restaurants and cafes.

Lake Banyoles: A small inland lake you can walk or cycle around.

Besalu: A wonderful medieval village with a fortified bridge. On a sunny day, you can take wonderful pictures of the town and bridge reflecting in the river.

Andorra: A scenic drive high into the Pyrenees.
